 Personal History and Achievements:

 

July 1957: Started training in Taekwondo at Chang Moon Kwan Taekwondo School in Seoul, Korea. 

1962-1966: Competed in many tournaments and won many tournaments.  Earned Korean National Champion Title. 

Oct. 1963: Lead Chang Moo Kwan to win 4th place in the 1st Korean Presidential National Taekwondo Group Competitions as a Captain 

1965-1966: Was a member of Korean Taekwondo Association Demo Team. 

Nov. 1967:  Was commissioned a second lieutenant from Korean Army. 

1968-1969: Instructed Taekwondo at Vietnamese Army Academy and at Vietnamese Military Physical Education School as a member of Korean Military             Taekwondo Instructors’ Corp. 

1969-1970:  Served as a Captain for Korean Army’s Engineer Corp.

1970-1972: Instructed Taekwondo at Vietnamese Police Department and Vietnamese Special Forces as a member of Korean Military Taekwondo Instructors’ Corp. 

Nov. 1972: Lead Korean Engineer Corp. Taekwondo Team to win the first place in the 1st Army General’s Cup Taekwondo Championships as a Team’s head coach. 

Dec. 1972: Retired Korean Army. 

Mar. 1973: Received Taekwondo Instructor’s Certificate from the World Taekwondo Federation. 

Oct. 1975:  Served as Head Coach for Korean Special Forces Taekwondo Team. 

1973-1976: Owned and instructed at World Taekwondo Academy in Seoul, Korea. 

Jan. 1975:  Was appointed as a member of International Affair division of World Taekwondo Federation. 

1976-1977: Instructed Taekwondo to Iran Special Forces. 

1976-1978: Served as Head Coach for Iranian National Team. 

1977-1978: Taught Taekwondo to Iran Military Academy 

1977-1978: Served as Head Coach for Iran Airline Taekwondo Team, Iran Monopoly Office Taekwondo Team and Iran Royal Family Taekwondo Team. 

Sept., 1978: Lead Taekwondo Demonstration with 300 Iran Military Officers in front of the Iranian King during Iran Military’s Graduation Ceremony. 

May 1979: Served as Head Coach for Saudi Arabia National Taekwondo Team 

1979-1980: Instructed Taekwondo to Saudi Arabia Air Force Academy 

1980-1986: Was Professor for United States Sports Academy.  Taught Martial Arts.                   

1980-1986: Conducted Taekwondo demonstrations and seminars in over 30 countries. 

Dec. 1986: Received Certificate of Qualification as a Taekwondo Instructor from Korean National Physical Education Department.

July 1990: Founded World Taekwondo Academy in Olney, Maryland, U.S.A. 

April 1992: Hosted the 19th Maryland State Taekwondo Jr. Olympics.  Over 500 Competitors participated. 

Oct. 1992:  Fundraised money to get Taekwondo to be appointed as an official Olympic Sport. 

                    Received over 2000 signatures. 

Jan. 1993: Elected as the president of the U.S. Korean Taekwondo Masters’ Association of Greater Washington, D.C. Region.

 May. 1993: Joined the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance as a lifetime member. 

Oct. 1993: Hosted the 1st U.S. Korean Masters’ Cup Taekwondo Championships. 

1994-1999: Hosted 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th U.S. Korean masters’ Cup Taekwondo Championships.

                    Each year over 500 competitors participated.

May 1997: Worked to have Washington, D.C. Taekwondo Day Proclaimed by D.C. Mayor.  Awarded Honorary 3rd Degree Black Belt to D.C. Mayor. 

Feb. 1998: Established a relationship between the U.S. Taekwondo Masters’ Association of Greater Washington, D.C. region and Choong Chung University Department of Sports Diplomatic Study 

Dec. 1998: Awarded Scholarships to 6 Taekwondo Students. 

Feb. 2000: Appointed as the President of the World Taekwondo Mudo Academy U.S.A. branch. 

1997-2005: Served four terms as a member of the advisory council on Democracy and Peaceful Unification.                   

Dec. 2008:  Led Team USA as Head of Team at the 3rd World Taekwondo Poom Sae Competitions in Ancara, Turkey

1994: Award of Achievement from the President of International Olympic Committee    

1994: Award of Appreciation from Maryland State Senator 

1995: Certificate of Appreciation from the Minister of Korean Cultural and Physical Department. 

1995: Award of Appreciation from President Clinton. 

2000: Award of Appreciation from Department of Korean Cultural and Public Information 

2000: Award of Appreciation from president of W.T.F. 

2004: Presidential Award from Korean President No, Moo Hyun 

2004: Award of Appreciation from President  Goo, Chun Suh of Korean Taekwondo Federation 

2007: Presidential Award from President George Bush
