Frequently Asked Questions
What is Taekwondo and how it is different from Karate or other Martial arts?
Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial arts well known for dynamic kicking techniques. In Traditional Taekwondo, students practice blocks, punches, kicks, hands strikes, throws and joint locks. Like many martial arts, goal of Taekwondo is self-defense but it is much more than just learning the techniques. Taekwondo training focuses on improving both physical and mental discipline. Taekwondo style is simple but effective and straight forward while some martial arts are too complex and too artistic like a dance or gymnastics. Some of the modern martial arts have become too aggressive so they have become more of fighting tactics rater than self-defense. During the last 30 years, Sport Taekwondo has been developed and it became an Olympic sport. Sport Taekwondo uses kicking and punching techniques to score.
